S is for Site Gallery
Site Gallery, located in the city’s Cultural Industries Quarter, is a leading contemporary art space specialising in moving image, new media, and performance. Established in 1979 as Untitled Gallery, it has grown to host pioneering exhibitions and events, including UK debuts of acclaimed artists such as Sophie Calle and Susan Philipsz. The gallery offers a diverse programme of exhibitions, talks, and workshops, aiming to connect people with art and inspire new ideas.
It also runs Site Platform, a residency programme for UK-based artists, and an education initiative engaging young people in South Yorkshire with contemporary art. Visitors can explore the gallery for free and browse its shop featuring artist-designed products and publications.
