R is for Reservoir (Carsington Water)
Today felt perfect to take a stroll around one of our favourite local spots to visit, the brilliant Carsington Water.
Run by Severn Trent, work to build the reservoir began in 1979 and wasn't finished until 1992 when it was opened by HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
There's a visitors centre with a cafe and cycle hire, a sailing centre, and the whole reservoir is circled by a cycle/walking trail that runs for 12.5km.
The whole area is a haven for wildlife and there are hides and spots from which to enjoy the many different species that call the reservoir home.
