Our Derbyshire A to Z

S is for Stanage Edge

We started 'National Get Outside Day' right with a stunning stroll along one our favourite Peak District locations, the incredible Stanage Edge.

The gritstone escarpment sits north of the village of Hathersage and south of Hallam Moors with much of the edge following the border between Derbyshire and Sheffield, South Yorkshire.

Todays walk took us from Upper Burbage Bridge past Cowper Stone and onto the gritstone at White Path Moss, passing one of two trig points on the edge.

We followed the edge northwest to the highest point on the ridge, High Neb, and site of the second trig. On route we stopped to explore Robin Hood's Cave and enjoyed views across the Hope Valley with the famous peaks of the Edale skyline in the distance.

Go check it out. It's worth the hype!
