Our Derbyshire A to Z

E is for English Country House (Chatsworth House)

What a stunning day to re-explore one of Derbyshire's most popular destinations, and for good reason, the incredible Chatsworth House.

"Chatsworth House is home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, and has been passed down through 16 generations of the Cavendish family."

The house has undergone a variety of transformations and restorations over the years and is one of England's finest examples of a grand country house estate.

In addition to the house are the outstanding gardens, home to water features, maze and stunning kitchen gardens, and... a glass house that is home to the Cavendish banana. Cultivated at Chatsworth before heading back out to the world, chances are the last banana you ate is a descendent of the Cavendish banana!
