Our Sheffield A to Z

B is for Botanical Gardens

After our park pottering we took the flora up a notch and had a stunning stroll around the spectacular Sheffield Botanical Gardens.

Established in 1836, the gardens span 19 acres and offer a serene escape in the heart of Sheffield. Featuring over 5,000 species of plants, the gardens include collections like the Mediterranean and Rose gardens. Highlights include the stunning glass pavilions, restored to their Victorian splendour, and the Evolution Garden, illustrating plant evolution. Seasonal events, educational programs, and guided tours enhance visitors' experience, making it a haven for plant enthusiasts and families alike. With its rich history and diverse flora, the Sheffield Botanical Gardens provide a perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, cherished by the community.

Dogs are allowed on leads except for the glasshouse (definitely worth taking turns to walk through). Rodney enjoyed the shade whilst Rufus decided his 13 year old legs needed a rest and earned a trip as a parrot!

Refreshments on our journey home included cold beer Craft and Berry on Ecclesall Road and a pick me up coffee from Pom Kitchen on Sharrow Vale.

What a spectacular Sunday exploring!
